 Simple Budget

Why Simple Budget?

Simple Budget was created out of a frustration of trying to find a simple “envelope” method budgeting program that would carry over from month to month. From simple to elaborate, I could not find something that suits my needs so I created Simple Budget.

Simple Budget was written because I wanted a very simple way of keeping track of my expenses and savings from month to month.

What Simple Budget Does:
– Keeps track of your spending.
– Allows you to track your saving for a budget fund month to month
– It is easy.
– It is free. Use at your own risk, It is a work in progress.

Here is a list of NON-features:
– It does not have any bells and whistles.
– It is not “internationalized” and uses the “$”.
– Since I initially wrote if for myself, it is in “English”.
– It does not encrypt its data file.
– It does not access the Internet.
– You can not access it on-line.
– There is no smartphone app for it.
– It does not display ads.
– And it does not spy on you.

I created Simple Budget for my own use.  If you find bugs, I would love to know about them. If you have an idea for a feature or a suggestion of how to do something better, I welcome it.  I created Simple Budget for myself,  and decided maybe someone else could benefit from it also. If you want to troll me, go write your own program.

You can find Simple Budget at the Ubuntu Snap Store for Linux operating systems, or at GitHub for Windows operating systems.

Easy Transaction Input

Entering Transactions and Reconciling them in Simple Budget is easy.

More and more, in this “Instant” this and “Instant” that world, people rely on their bank app to tell them how much money they have to spend.  The money is MASTER over them.  If this is how you operate, you WILL come up short.  Maybe you already have.

I wrote Simple Budget for myself and my family.  I wanted to be a better “Steward” of the finances God has let me use.  I acknowledge that it is all His and I want to make the best use of it.

The muscle of Simple Budget is “Entering Transactions” and “Reconciling Transactions”.  The heart and soul are the “Budgeting Process” (Making a spending plan) and “Reports” to see how we are doing and for encouragement.

As I said, I wrote Simple Budget for myself.  And if you would like, you can use it too.  It is free with no strings attached.  It doesn’t do what may budgeting programs do.  It doesn’t connect to your bank account.  And it doesn’t spy on you.  If you like it let me know, and if it leads you to financial freedom, definitely let me know!

Start enjoying your finances and enjoy using Simple Budget!

Reports

The reports and graphs of Simple Budget are the heart and soul of the system.  When you decide to be MASTER over your finances rather than the money master over you, the reports and graphs of Simple Budget are where you go to “look” at how you are doing and be encouraged when you reach your goals.

Simple Budget has several reports and graphs to make analyzing your data easier.  From simple “Fund” balance reports to detailed transactions listings.

I wrote Simple Budget for my own use, so I wrote the reports and graphs that seem to help me along the way.  I hope and pray as you use Simple Budget, they will be useful to you too.  After all, if you don’t know where you have been, it is hard to know where you are going.  Be aware of your past and current financial state as you look to the future.

“Is there anyone here who, planning to build a new house, doesn’t first sit down and figure the cost so you’ll know if you can complete it? If you only get the foundation laid and then run out of money, you’re going to look pretty foolish. Everyone passing by will poke fun at you: ‘He started something he couldn’t finish.’
